2013 Award Winners

The Information Society Innovation Fund (ISIF Asia) Awards seek to acknowledge the important contributions ICT innovators have made to their communities, by addressing social and development challenges using the Internet.

The 2013 ISIF Asia Awards recognize initiatives that have already been implemented, or are in the final stages of implementation that are aligned with the funding categories. The 2013 winning projects were chosen as outstanding in these categories:

Innovation on access provision
eToro: Indigenous Botanical Knowledge Management System of Penans - Malaysia

Institute of Social Informatics and Technological Innovations (ISITI-CoERI), UNIMAS and the local community of Long Lamai, Sarawak.

Innovation on learning and localization
Shikkhok.com - Bangladesh


Code for the common good
RuaiSMS to empower grass root communities - Indonesia

Ruai Television Station

Amar Desh Amar Gram (My Country My Village) - Bangladesh

Future Solution For Business
In addition to these four winners chosen by the ISIF Selection Committee, the Community Choice Award was given to the following project, which received the highest number of votes during the ISIF Asia Awards social media campaign:

Community Choice Award
Design and Development of Precision Agriculture Information System, Bangladesh

Department of Computer Science & Engineering,University of Dhaka

Information about all award candidates is available on their application forms.

Each winning project team will receive up to AUD 3,000 to support the continuation of the project. The award package also included a travel grant for the project representatives to attend the Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2013) in Bali, Indonesia to showcase their project, make new professional contacts, and participate in discussions about the future of the Internet.
