How can I submit a grant proposal?: 17

Project proposals from Asia Pacific-based public or private sector organizations, university, or research and development institutions and non-government organizations will be considered.

Individuals are not eligible for grants.

Proposals should provide clear and concrete information about the proposed project so that it can be properly assessed by the Grants Evaluation Committee. Please read carefully the proposed structure for grant proposals and eligibility criteria. Please review the list of countries that are considered by ISIF as part of the Asia Pacific region. Proposals from countries not listed there will not be reviewed.

The maximum budget to be funded by this program is AU 40,000. Project proposals exceeding that amount must specify where the additional funds will be obtained.

The project proposal work plan must not exceed 12 months.

The ISIF Secretariat recommends that when planning your application read carefully the application guide and a short list of tips for a successful submission. If you have questions about your application, feel free to contact the ISIF Secretariat at any time. You might find the answer to some of your questions at the FAQ section of this site.

All required information must be include in a file developed by the applicants, using the template provided, and uploading the file through the online application form before 31 July 2009. Applications submitted on a different format will NOT be accepted for review. No additional information can be filed after that date. When a proposal is submitted the nominated email contacts will receive a confirmation message. If you do not receive a confirmation message please contact the Secretariat at info@isif.asia before attempting to submit your proposal again.

The ISIF Secretariat will contact you if any clarification is needed. The grants proposals are selected by the Grants Evaluation Committee members according to the following evaluation process.

If you have problems accessing the online application form or other information please contact the Secretariat at info@isif.asia. All required information must be included within the application. No additional information received by other means will be examined by the Grants Evaluation Committee.

Copies of the grant agreement and the license and copyright are available for your review and consideration before submitting your proposal.

The Steering Committee can request applicants to modify their budgets to fund nominated specific activities. The Steering Committee may decide to partially fund a proposal. Administrative overheads are generally not funded, but in exceptional circumstances may be funded as a maximum of 10% of the total budget. Please provide detailed justification if you will include funds for administrative overhead into your proposal. The terms and conditions for the release of grants funds have been defined by the ISIF Secretariat. The following expense categories are eligible for funding:

  • Equipment: All devices needed for the project deployment
  • Personnel: Salaries of project team if they work 50% of the time or more
  • Professional services: Consultants, technical support, programming, documentation, etc. Project team that works less than 50% of the time
  • Research expenses: Training workshops for project beneficiaries, materials, publications, local travel
  • International travel: International travel expenses such as accommodation, air fares, visa applications, per diem, etc. Participation in conferences, presentation, field trips
  • Training: Training courses for project team (fees and travel expenses – local or international)
  • Support services: Web hosting, transcripts, translations, logistics, workshops facilitation, etc.
When submitting an application, the applicants acknowledge that any grant funding and, indeed, the application and evaluation process, is entirely at the discretion of the funding partners and they may choose to determine the process at any time up to the time of actual payment.

When submitting an application, the applicants are granting permission to the ISIF Secretariat and funding partners to use materials, submitted or developed during the application process, in publications or materials to promote ISIF. These materials can be project descriptions, photographs taken during the application process or at funded events, etc.
